Perspective: The Complicator

Perspective

Perspective is the ‘lens’ we use to make sense of the world and is informed by our past experiences, our knowledge (including expertise), our norms, values and beliefs. It is what informs our sense of reality.

How many types of snow are there?

SENSORY ACUITY

The concept of Sensory Acuity comes from Neuropsychology, meaning your ability to use your senses to notice, monitor, and make sense of the external cues from other people. It is your ability to see and listen more effectively and consciously when comprehending nonverbal communications. Tony Robbins takes the ‘sensory acuity’ concept to support us to understand that what we believe to be true is informed by our ‘sensory acuity’ which in this context means - level of expertise. He uses the "how many types of snow" example to show us that for most of us we just think of snow as snow. Yet would we question the Inuit (Eskimo) when they tell you there are 7 types of snow, what these consist of and how these can be put to use?
